I brought a blender on sale and use it to make a protein shake or smoothie (if there was too much ice). And add 2 tsps of soy protein I buy in bulk at the store. And since it is granulated I only buy what can last me for a few weeks. I buy fruit that is turning to get a discount. This helps me with my finances and keeps the doctor happy since she insists that I eat in the morning which is something I just don&#8217;t like to do. I also lucked out and found my insurance is paying for 6 weeks of physical therapy because of my size. I have lost 7lbs so far and am trying not to get bored too quickly. One last thing is I eat salad even at McDonald&#8217;s and add one type of meat for the protein.</span></p>

I added more fiber into my diet (lentils, whole grain salads with things like wheat berries, pearl barley and brown rice) and lost almost 5 pounds just because I late less. You really want to take your time and add it gradually &#8211; otherwise, you&#8217;ll be pretty miserable. But, it&#8217;s worth it, especially if you can find high fiber foods you like.</span></p>

We use olive oil dip instead of butter when we&#8217;re having bread with dinner. Plain yogurt is a decent-enough substitute for sour cream on potatoes. We got an ice cream maker and now we have sorbet instead of high calorie, high cholesterol desserts. We don&#8217;t fry anything because of the calories. And we&#8217;re grateful for summer because just about everything tastes better when it goes on the grill &#8212; even vegetables. </span></p>

But it&#8217;s these kinds of headlines that keep us stuck in the same place for months, even years, trying the same thing over and over and thinking we&#8217;ll finally get it right. </span></p>
